| Fall/Winter 2008 |
Tailored with vintage signature touches including gold buttons, men’s wear inspired high wasted pants and riding jackets, Lyndsy continues to delight us with her tom-boyish surprises such as gold chains, racer-back vests and comfortably formal one-piece wide leg pant-suits, once considered daily practical wear in the 1960s. Playing with contrasting trim colors, reminiscent of the 1980’s, such as turquoise, pink and plum in which are incorporated into small “personal” prints, one appropriately called “marie Antoinette,” baby hounds tooth and denim pinstripes, Lyndsy creates as if, “Marie Antoinette were living, but not reigning, in a modern day world. She would still dress like an Austrian, a bit more relaxed and every day, ride horses in boys petty coats and pantaloons, as she did in her childhood in Austria.” To add the hint of French Upper Class Royalty in the late 1700’s, Lyndsy adds soft feminine textures such as velvet and satin, perhaps to play the role of the ever-critical French Royal Court. But its these “high class” role-playing limitations that inspire Lyndsy to intertwine her cleverly created tom-boyish femininity into a new class of fashion all her own but of course still remaining it’s high fashion dignity. You can rest assured, but obviously not in your corset, that you will continue to see period inspired pieces as if the Dauphin of France were living in the practical 1960s as well as the neo-Romantic 1980’s. |
